While designing an ultimate cycling backpack, I had an idea to solve the issues of weight and comfort when bike commuting with a backpack.

I drew inspiration from inflatable sleeping mats and the articulated anatomy of the human back.

Once the initial concept was created, I tailored a back panel pattern to send to the factory, so they could use it as a reference for the back panel construction.

In the end, this concept was too forward-thinking for the brand at the time, so we decided to execute a more traditional, less performance-driven suspension system. However, this exploration remained one of my favorite parts of the project.
